About Me

I’m Michelle and dogs have been my passion for as long as I can remember!

As a child I worked in boarding kennels, volunteered at the local vet and zoo, and then studied Zoology and Behaviour at University.

After graduation I qualified as an Early Years Teacher (of humans!), and also volunteered at my local Animal Rescue at weekends and holidays and brought home a few of the dogs to join our family. One in particular had some very challenging quirks, and led me on a journey of courses, workshops, consultations and learning that started my second career as a Dog Trainer and Behaviourist.

After a period working in the Behaviour Team at a local rescue, I moved to Bristol and started Cleary Canines and Puppy School Bristol.

Now, after many years of working with dogs of all ages, I’m once again returning to Early Years, but puppies not children!

As with children, I believe learning should be fun, ideally through play, and should never involve any form of force or punishment.

We did a 6 week puppy class with our border collie/ poodle cross Finn in March 2021. We were a bit unsure as it  would have been an actual class but it had to be on line due to COIVD.  We needn’t have worried.  The online  (zoom ) classes  were increadibly helpful  and we all learnt a lot. Michelle was very knowledgeable and always explained her thinking and the pups thinking  really clearly. There was a good balance between structure, space to practice things  and feedback, and to  ask questions. Would highly recommend 🙂 Many thanks Michelle xx
